LOLIPAN splash bars are fills for cooling towers.
Made of filled polypropylene, LOLIPAN splash bars are corrosion-free and easy to assemble with the main sides facing each other vertically.
Ideal for all types of cooling towers, LOLIPAN fill is particularly suitable for counter-flow types.
How do they work?
When assembled LOLIPAN bars form unified sections which constitute SPLASH type fills.
Being mechanically robust and insensitive to deterioration and dirt, LOLIPAN splash bars are ideal for cooling towers located in areas with potentially dirty air and/or fouled water to cool.
LOLIPAN bars are suitable for severe environmental working conditions and heavy duty.
Fields of application:
LOLIPAN splash bars are particularly suited for cooling towers used in the steel, metallurgic, food-processing, chemical, energy production, water purification/treatment industries, to name only a few.
Cooling Towers
Cooling towers are used for the thermal recovery of cooling water in equipment or industrial processes. When the water to be cooled comes in contact with a substantial external air flow, evaporation of a small portion of water is brought about. The evaporation process takes away heat from residual water and transfers it to the air.
In cooling towers the fill plays the most important role; this is the core of the system itself, the place where the exchange occurs.
During the cooling process water filters a great quantity of external air and withholds all "the dirt" taken away from the air; what is more, the evaporation process generates a higher concentration of salts diluted in the water being re-circulated, which therefore becomes harder.
Specific treatment can reduce incrustation; however results are neither long-lasting nor effective. Moreover, there is no protection against the dirt brought about by the air: in fact, the fill needs scheduled substitution in order to ensure efficiency of the cooling tower. The main problems arise when the water to be cooled collects contaminants during the production cycle such as chips from tempering, lubricants, organic substances, etc.
For these processes a Splash fill is the only option and LOLIPAN bars are the best solution; for all other instances it is a matter of reliance and waste reduction.
LOLIPAN fill is resistant to fouling and very tough in mechanical terms.r>
Moreover, LOLIPAN fill - unlike the "hanging" types - is "supported", which means that it can bear a higher possible load without getting deformed or falling into the underlying concrete basin. It can also endure temperatures up to nearly 100°C.
LOLIPAN bars are easy to assemble, creating stable sections. Thanks to a very special design mechanical forces are distributed perpendicularly to the axis of the bar, allowing for extremely high coefficients of resistance.
Which cooling towers are they best for?
LOLIPAN bars can be used in all types of cooling towers, but they are especially suited for counter-flows.
Towers with axial suction fan
Natural-draft concrete towers
Towers with axial fan input
Towers with centrifugal fan input
Forced-draught concrete towers
Why LOLIPAN?
The fill is undoubtedly one of the most important elements in a cooling tower.
Moreover, this component is the most likely to show deterioration (it becomes old and brittle and it clogs up thus impeding the passage of fluids) and needs replacing.
Currently, the type commonly adopted is delicate and most sensitive to dirt and mechanical stress.
Scheduled replacement of this component is costly: the removal of a clogged fill (which often has become one single block) can be difficult to carry out as it entails stoppage of the plant. Moreover, this is a highly polluting intervention: correct disposal procedures calls for compliance with strict and expensive regulatory norms; finally it is worth bearing in mind that the production of the bars requires the use of PVC hence of hydrocarbons and energy.
The fill made of LOLIPLAN splash bars is not subject to weakening and deterioration and is dirt resistant; in nearly all applications it does NOT need replacement throughout the cooling tower's lifespan.
